Marino Mendez is a pastor of great integrity and dedication to thorough teaching
and application of the principles of the Scripture to everyday life. He is the best disciplemaking pastor I have
ever known. ASON has worked with Marino for 32 years.
His vision continues to
grow, rather than diminish. But, now he
and his wife Ana need help. Marino has cataracts in both eyes and Ana has
glaucoma and cataracts in both eyes. She has neglected her eyes for the two
years of Covid and it is by God’s grace that she sees at all today.
God flung
the doors open for the two to come to the US for eye surgeries in February and
March of this year, a few short weeks away!
The three of us have many friends in the DR who are blind today after eye
surgeries and we did NOT want to gamble with their eyesight.
Ana gets up early every day and prepares 3
meals for Marino and members of her family who show up hungry every day. She
rarely sits down. Marino needs his eyes to see the faces of his congregation as
he counsels and teaches them, as he walks the community reading body language for
opportunity to share Christ, and for the construction which he still actively
oversees. The cost of surgeries and at least
two round trip flights will be $25,000 as of today’s estimates. We have
received $6,000 so far for this fund and we need $19,000 more. Please share
this need on your facebook pages with the link to this project. Their first eye
appointments are on Feb 4 and tests on Feb 7. Each of their first eyes will be
operated on Feb 21. Any and all help would be deeply appreciated.
